A rock climber whose thumb was severed when he fell and it was caught in a rope has had the digit reattached by surgeons, officials at Yosemite National Park said Wednesday.

There were three active fires in Yosemite National Park on Monday burning nearly 130 acres, and 14 more that have gone out since Friday. All of the fires were caused by lightning strikes from thunderstorms that are typical for this time of year, said Yosemite National Park spokesman Scott Gediman.
