Camellia Cup

Camellia Cup

The 51st ANNUAL CAMELLIA CUP – The Sacramento Valley’s Largest Sailboat Race – will occur on April 1 and 2 on Folsom Lake.

The regatta is the Sacramento Valley’s oldest and largest sailboat race with some 60 boats expected to compete.

After four years of drought, high water coincides with high enthusiasm as Camellia Cup returns to Folsom Lake, marking the official start of the boating season in the Sacramento Valley.

In most regattas (sailboat races), sailors compete against each other in classes of boats. In Camellia Cup not only do the sailors compete in classes of boats, but against one another for the title of Camellia Cup Champion… the Sacramento Valley’s best overall sailor.

The regatta provides opportunities for vivid photography and videography as competing sloops hoist multicolored spinnakers on downwind runs.

Folsom Lake is a center of Sacramento Valley sailboat racing, with many national champions having come from this area.  Camellia Cup provides an opportunity to see sailboat racing and meet sailors.

Boat classes competing in the regatta vary in length from 13 to 25 feet, including:  Banshees, Lasers, Lido 14s, Thistles, Day Sailers, Santana 20s, Catalina 22s, Capri 22s and 25s, Cal 22s and 250s, Wavelength 24s, and various types of multihull boats.
